Who runs this site

BluffBall ("the site") is a personal, non-commercial hobby project run by a single individual based in the United Kingdom. It is not operated by a company. Any small revenue generated by advertising is incidental.

What this site is

BluffBall is a parody small-talk generator. It produces randomised text on the visitor's device. The site does not require an account and does not ask you for any personal information.

What personal data we process

The site operator does not directly collect, store, sell or otherwise use your personal data. The only personal data processed in connection with this site is:

• Server log data automatically recorded by the hosting provider when your browser requests a page (IP address, user-agent, request time). This is standard for any website and is used only for security, abuse prevention and basic uptime.
• Cookie / device data processed by third-party advertising and analytics providers, but only if you grant consent via the cookie banner. See "Cookies and advertising" below.
• Your cookie choice, stored in your browser's local storage so we don't ask you again on every visit. This never leaves your device.

We do not run a mailing list, we do not have user accounts, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Legal basis (UK GDPR / EU GDPR)

• Necessary cookies and server logs: our legitimate interest in operating a secure, functional website (Article 6(1)(f)).
• Analytics and advertising cookies: your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you can grant, refuse or withdraw at any time using Cookie settings.

Cookies and advertising

By default, no advertising or analytics cookies are set. The site uses Google Consent Mode v2 with all advertising and analytics signals defaulted to "denied" until you make a choice on the cookie banner.

If you accept marketing cookies, the site loads:

• Google Publisher Tag (GPT) from securepubads.g.doubleclick.net, which displays ads and may set cookies for frequency capping, fraud prevention and (where you have consented) personalisation. Ads are served programmatically; the site operator does not see or store any data collected by ad partners.

If you refuse marketing cookies, GPT is not loaded and no ad requests are made from your browser.

Third parties

Like any website, BluffBall relies on third parties whose own privacy policies apply to data they process directly:

• Hosting / CDN provider — handles your request and records standard server logs.
• Google (Ad Manager / GPT and any participating demand partners) — only if you accept marketing cookies. See Google's Privacy Policy.

The site operator does not sell your data and does not share data with any party outside what is described above.

International transfers

Some third parties (for example Google) are based outside the UK and EEA. Where they process personal data they rely on their own transfer safeguards (such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or EU Standard Contractual Clauses).

How long we keep data

The site operator does not retain personal data. Hosting log files are typically rotated by the hosting provider within a short window (usually 30 days or less). Third-party cookies have their own retention periods, set by those parties.

Your rights

Under UK and EU GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Because the site operator does not directly hold any personal data about you, most of these requests should be directed to the relevant third party (e.g. Google) for data they hold.

You also have the right to withdraw consent for cookies at any time using Cookie settings, and the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) or your local EU data protection authority.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly process their personal data.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated occasionally. Material changes will be indicated by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
